In Our Community
M.C. Cash students participate in a number of activities to directly serve their community. These include:
Barrios Bellos Neighborhood Clean-up
Cash partnered with the city of Phoenix, Toyota, and Chicanos por la Causa for Barrios Bellos, a Cash community clean-up in October 2015. Over 400 volunteers picked up trash, covered graffiti and removed overgrown vegetation. To encourage participation, all students had the opportunity to participate in a Barrios Bellos poster contest. Students were encouraged to draw posters of their visions for a clean community. A group of judges selected a winner from each grade level. The first 200 students who submitted pictures received a plant at the clean-up.
The Water Project
Ms. Nada Sarsour’s 2nd grade students collected $100 in donations for The Water Project to help fund a new rainwater harvesting system for a school in Kenya.
